NAADAM FESTIVAL OF MONGOLIAN NATIONAL HOLIDAY

The biggest event of the year in Mongolia is the Naadam Festival, known as the Eriin Gurvan Naadam, after the `Men’s three games’ of wrestling, archery and horse racing. It was celebrated for centuries as a test of courage and strength of nomadic people and warriors. People coming from all corners of the country and abroad enjoy watching the Naadam festival. The festival is held all over the country, normally between 11 and 12 July, the anniversary of the 1921 Mongolian Revolution. The major events take place during the first two days. It is a wonderful time to experience the culture and people of this amazing land.

Tour itinerary

Day 1 10.July Ulaanbaatar city

Morning arrival in Ulaanbaatar city. Meet our guide and driver. Check in hotel for relaxes. Visit Sukhbaatar square, Chinggis khan monument National museum, Bogd khan palace museum and Zaisan Hill for Panoramic view of Ulaanbaatar. Dinner and Overnight at hotel.

Day 2 11. July Naadam festival

Visit Naadam Festival. Opening Ceremony in central stadium. See Mongolian wrestling and archery. During this event you will see the National White Banner Sacrifice on stadium from Parliament house and it holds till end of Closing Ceremony of festival. Mongolian used 81 white horse’s hair from all over Mongolia for this banner since Chinggis khan period for meaning of peace. Visit to horse racing area. Overnight at hotel.

Day 3 12.July Naadam festival

Second day of Naadam festival that, including wrestling, archery and traditional ankle bone shooting game finals. Closing Ceremony. Visit the Ulaanbaatar city’s biggest monastery Gandan and Natural history museum. Overnight at hotel.

Day 4 13.July Kharkhorum ancient city ruin

Drive to Kharkhorum. Visit to Erdenezuu Monastery. It had some 100 temples within its 400 by 400 meters long walls. The monastery was sacked during the purges of 1937. Only the walls and 3 temples remain. Erdenezuu is still one of the most fascinating sites of Mongolia, and usually we will be able to experience and see the prayers. Overnight at GER (Mongolian traditional felt accommodation)

Day 5 14.July Khustai

Drive to Khustai National Park. Khustai National park was protected in 1993 to conserve biodiversity and facilitate the re-introduction to the Wild Ass or known as Przewalski horse (Takhi). Also you can see the Small Sand Dune known as Moltsog els in the forest zone and dune journey. Overnight at Mongolian traditional felt GER camp.

Day 6 15.July Terelj

Early morning see the wild horse. Continue drive to Terelj National Park. Short stop on Ulaanbaatar and have lunch at restaurant. Continue drive to Terelj National park with short stop at Terelj Ovoo on the way. Visit to Turtle Rock and Aryapala Meditation initiation center. Arrive at GER camp and check in. Light walk on the mountains. Dinner and overnight at tourist GER camp.

Day 7 16.July Ulaanbaatar

Early in the morning you will see wild ass and if lucky we can see some wild animals like wolf, fox and many birds as well. Afternoon drive back to Ulaanbaatar transfer to hotel. Shopping at Souvenir and Cashmere shops. You will see traditional folklore concert at evening. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 8 17.July Departure

Check out hotel. Transfer to airport. Departure
